   Welcome to Basirhat Mahabodhi College of Education (BMCE), an institution of teacher education (B.Ed & D.El.Ed) at Champapukur in Basirhat sub-division. It is gratifying to note that Basirhat Mahabodhi College of Education (BMCE) with its academic excellence and achievement, has a proud distinction in the in the Teaching / Educational field amongst all private / self financed institutions in West Bengal.

It as been established in 2012 at the village Arjunpur under champapukur Post Office in Basirhat Sub division in North 24 Parganas of West Bengal. It was approved by Eastern Regional Committee – National Council for Teacher Education ( ERC – NCTE ) in 2012 vide approval no. – ERC – APP 39 (Memo no. ERC/7 – 132.6(i). 4/2012/11614, dated 17.05.2012) and was affiliated initially by West Bengal State University (WBSU), in 2013. In connection with National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education (NCFTE) – 2009, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE ) has initiated a universal curriculum of B.Ed for 2 years throughout the country in 2014 and university was formed in West Bengal to control and co-ordinate all B.Ed and M.Ed colleges from public and private sector named West Bengal University of Teacher’s Training, Education, Planning and Administration (WBUTTEPA).

This College has Further recognised by Eastern Regional Committee – National Council for Teacher Education ( ERC – NCTE ) to confront 2 years course of B.Ed in 2015 and affiliated by the West Bengal University of Teacher’s Training, Education, Planning and Administration (WBUTTEPA) in 2016 eventually. It is firmly believed that quality of teachers in educational institutions determines the eventual quality of education. The role of colleges of education in preparing high quality teachers, therefore, imperative. The teachers for the 21st century should have the ability to ensure cognitive and affective development of the students and create in them a value system which is a mixture of time- tested values, nationalistic and secular traditions and scientific temper.

It is an arduous task and cannot be completed without high quality teacher educators. The professional development of teacher educators is, therefore, the need of the time. I would like to say it is a matter of immense pleasure that the new renovated Website of Basirhat Mahabodhi College of Education (BMCE) is being launched. The website highlights the achievements and activities of the college in different spheres. The College has undertaken to develop multifarious skills among the trainee teachers as well as the teacher educators. And emphasizes pursuit of high ideals namely excellence in teaching and learning, high achievement levels, all round development of personality, self-reliance, innovation and introduction of new technologies, besides ensuring professional growth of teachers.

The College has been offering teacher education programmes for over 5 years now and has trained nearly 500 teachers who are spread across the Bengal doing excellent jobs in the field of education as Nation Builders. In view of excellent staff and physical facilities, well equipped library, provision for extracurricular activities, a rich tradition of rigorous curricular transaction, ICT being a thrust area, a 20 Experimental School attached to the College of Education and above all a rich tradition of Research activities the college is one of the reputed institutions in the West Bengal and students of B.Ed & D.El.Ed. seek admission in this College as their first priority in the region.
