The educational system often possesses a number of challenges before the teachers. No teacher can survive in this dynamic profession, without equipping himself with a variety of skills & qualities that improves his knowledge, ability and quality. The concept of creative learning is a vital part of modern educational system. Allowing new ideas & innovative thinking requires a more dynamic learning process. Therefore it is essential that the students be allowed to learn newer vistas of learning. The teacher is not a mere guide in the most conventional system. Teacher is much more than a regular counsellor, a value developer & a torch bearer of change.
It is our (Basirhat Mahabodhi College of Education) endeavour to provide a dynamic learning process to train, equip and mould the teacher trainees to cater to the expectations of the modern society. We hope that the teachers will become role models to the future citizens of the country. Basirhat Mahabodhi Educational & Social Welfare Trust has given birth to a teachers’ training institution named as Basirhat Mahabodhi College of Education (BMCE) in the year 2012.
This is one of the best teachers’ training institutions in the Basirhat subdivision as well as district – North 24 Parganas. We got permission from ERC – NCTE on17/05/2012 (ERC/7 – 132.6 (i). 4/2012/11614) and from ERC – NCTE on 25/05/2015 (ERC / NCTE / ERCAPP 39 / B.Ed. (Revised Order) / 2015 / 32085).
After that we got affiliation from West Bengal State University (WBSU) on 13/06/2012 (WBSU / IC / B.Ed. / BMCE / 155 / 12). BMCE follows the rules regulations of UGC. Then from the year 2012-2017, 400 students have passed the B.Ed (Bachelor in Education) Examination with flying colors and many of them have got job in various schools and colleges in the state or outside the state. During the period 2012-2015, June the duration of B.ED was one year but from the session 2015,
the NCTE has extended the duration from one year to 2 years. The session 2015-17 was the last one under WBSU as one separate university; West Bengal University of Teacher’s Training Education Planning and Administration (WBUTTEPA) was established in the year 2015 for B.Ed and in May, 2016 BMCE received affiliation for B.Ed course from WBUTTEPA. But the fact is that though in 2015 the new university WBUTTEPA was established but the session 2015 – 17 was kept under WBSU. From BMCE 300 in service teachers completed their D.El.Ed degree under WBBPE in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode during the year 2013 – 15.
Again another 200 in service teachers completed their B.Ed degree from BMCE under WBBSE organized by NSOU during the same period. The year 2016 is a remarkable one in the history of BMCE as since then the college has started to offer D.El.Ed degree under WBBPE. With above streams this institution also conducts National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) affiliated teacher training courses (Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode).
